What is an IPO?
An Initial Public Offering (IPO) is the process by which a private company becomes publicly traded by offering its shares on a stock exchange. This enables more investors to invest in the company and is often a major step in a company's growth, providing it with capital to expand operations and invest in new projects.
What is an RTO?
A Reverse Takeover (RTO) is a faster and less costly alternative to a traditional IPO. In an RTO, a private company acquires a publicly traded shell company, allowing it to become publicly listed without undergoing the traditional IPO process.
RTOs save both time and money compared to traditional IPOs, providing private companies with quicker access to public markets. RTOs are particularly common in the junior mining and mineral exploration sectors, where companies need quick access to public funding to support their exploration and development projects.
What are junior mining companies?
Junior mining companies are small-scale companies focused on discovering and developing new mineral resources. Unlike large mining firms that handle extraction and production, junior mining companies are primarily focused on exploration—searching for valuable mineral deposits like gold, silver, copper, and uranium, etc.
These companies play a crucial role in the mining lifecycle by identifying potential resources that larger firms may later develop. The term "junior" reflects the size of these companies and therefore junior mining companies can be thought of as mining startups.
What is mineral exploration?
Mineral exploration is the process of finding new mineral deposits which involves:
- Prospecting: Using geological surveys, historical data, and advanced technologies to locate promising mineral sites.
- Sampling and Drilling: Collecting samples to assess the quality and quantity of mineral deposits.
- Feasibility Studies: Evaluating the economic viability of extracting the resources.
